SAP Data Modeler - Version S5 (October 2025)

We are excited to announce the release of SAP Data Modeler Version S5 – October 2025, bringing key enhancements to entity creation, table integration, metadata handling, and transport logic. This update focuses on boosting flexibility, improving system validation, and strengthening data integrity.

New Features

• Mixed table usage: Entities now support a combination of standard SAP tables, Z tables, and CDS Views in a single configuration.
• Alias + technical name validation: Prevents users from assigning identical values to the alias and technical name.
• Primary key definition on creation: New entities or tables with new aliases now require primary key definition.
• IDs for entities and columns: Each entity and column now has their own ID to be identified and managed among multiple instances. If there is no ID for an entity, a validation will be triggered.
• CDS validation: CDS Views without a defined key can no longer be added to entities.
• “Add all columns” button: Quickly insert all columns from a table into the entity.
• Working with Variants: Now you can create fixed or dynamic variants during the batch execution of an entity in order to send dynamic data or fixed values that are used often.
• Job Log: Improved the creation of background job for batch execution with its own system log.
• Preview Json: In the batch execution option, now you can preview the data to be sent before sending it.
• Deletes in transport: Now, if an entity is deleted in a SAP instance, that delete can be transported and moved among instances to secure the consistency of entities among environments.

Data Handling Improvements

• Support for long field names: Fix for concatenated fields exceeding 30 characters.
• Special character for alias: Special Character in alias are no longer supported in order to not affect the data in the destination system.
• Respect field selection in ANY entities: ANY type entities now retain specified field selections correctly.
• Column alignment: All selected columns are now aligned to the right in the UI for better visibility.
• Duplicate entity name prevention: Entities with duplicate names are no longer allowed.
• Entity Filters: The data sent from an entity now completely respect the established filters set for any table.
• Decimals in Metadata: The metadata now contains the number of decimals for number or decimal types of data.

Logging & Transport Enhancements

• OneConnect log tracking: Logs are generated when a transport request (TR) is installed.
• Transport cleanup logic: Deleted entities are also removed from the transport registry.
• Improved memory management: Jobs now release allocated memory after execution.
• Offset persistence: In synchronous communication, the last offset is now saved and persisted.
• Log Improvement: Fixed a bug where a successfull execution in the log was marked as error.
