SAP Data Modeler - Version S4 (June 2025)

We are pleased to announce the release of S4 - June 2025 of the SAP Data Modeler. This update includes new features, key fixes, and improvements focused on flexibility, security, and stability in data modeling.

New Features

• New entity type: Class (Code): allows creating an entity as an ABAP class, editable via transaction SE24. Ideal for handling complex scenarios not supported by the graphical modeler.
• Log configuration per entity:
  • Option to store logs using OneConnect standard logs.
  • Option to store logs in a custom folder/directory on the server.
  This configuration is defined per entity and retained in the model.
• Transport inclusion: entities can now be included in transport directly from the interface.
• New authorization object: restricts entity management (edit/delete) to authorized users.
• New Excel format for mass upload: tables can now be shared across entities. If a table shares the same alias across entities, it will be updated in all of them when edited.
• New data export format: a new option Field Name + Field Label is available, which concatenates the technical name with its alias (e.g., vbeln_sales_document).

Fixes

• Resolved an issue where renaming a new table would revert to the default name.
• It is now possible to use the same table multiple times in an entity, as long as a different alias is applied.
• Fixed an issue where the "Display" mode allowed entity editing.
• Corrected behavior that prevented multiple joins with the same table.
• Improved relationship handling when additional columns are required due to new links.
• Events now trigger correctly for all involved entities, even when multiple definitions exist.

Optimization and Stability

• Optimized entity generation to avoid regenerating existing tables unnecessarily.
• Improved validation for entity names (spaces, invalid characters).
• Prevention of create/edit actions in locked environments.
• Popup confirmations added for sensitive actions like delete.

Excel & Metadata

• Support for extending columns in shared tables via Excel upload.
• Support for managing duplicated aliases in technical fields and primary keys.
• Fixed metadata conflicts when resending configurations with “Alias” and “Both” options.

Other Adjustments

• Fixed issue where EventID or TagData were included in JSON output even when not defined (requires regeneration).
• Support for the combination of “Field Name + Alias” in metadata.
• Integrated internal objects zonta_oc_col_all and zonta_oc_auth into zonta_intcust.
